I have this record but can't find it listed on the internet. Does anyone know why? Have I not searched properly?

Thanks for your help,

Ian.Keenan

Believe me, there are a great many 78rpm records which are not listed on the internet. I've spent a long time trying to find out when tracks were first issued, and the fact is that if the first release was in the 78 era, it might not be mentioned anywhere online. I'm surprised there isn't a Gracie Fields discography online as she has a fairly active fan club, apparently there is one coming soon
The Official Gracie Fields

A lot of discographical information from the 78rpm era simply isn't readily accessibly in the public domain. Thanks to 45cat you can find out about most singles on that format. Brian Rust published an Entertainment Discography amongst other similar titles, and that had a Gracie discography. I have a Philips label discography which would list the record. Hopefully in time the internet will have more complete information on 78s.

I think it's a pretty rare record, and has only appeared on CD once, in a rather scratchy transfer, alas... but yes, Perry Como had the big hit version of course.

Spanish single (Philips Ibérica P 26007 H) is listed here with composer names, matrix numbers and audio clips of both sides:

Very interesting, pity it can't be downloaded but nice to hear. Although it's quite a strange rendition of the song to me, not many can have chosen it over Perry Como surely.
