I would be interested to know what members think about uploading of MP3 collections to this site, such as the one I added (Black Sabbath MP3 Collection). They are generally ripped to MP3 format from Original CDs or downloaded from the internet then compiled onto CD. They are not official issues and do not fall into the category of bootlegs as we know it (in my opinion). In many cases artwork is copied also.
I'm of the opinion that they don't belong here, but...... I'll go with the flow !!!!
Thanks for asking about this. They definitely don't belong on 45worlds, as they are home created CDs. They are not even CDs in the normal sense as you say, instead they are collections of MP3 files. Maybe there could be a home for these on 45spaces instead?
Definitely not for here, if they are homemade or clearly bootleg. But what about commercial releases, with royalties paid and cat#s? I remember that in the early 90s at least one German "label" (the then still relevant mail order/retail chain "Zweitausendeins") had these on sale. I never bought one of them, but they were definitely not bootlegs or unofficial, as they not only had on offer sets of complete works by certain groups or classical stuff, but stuff they produced themselves in the past and re-issued in this hybrid format.
BTW, do we do audio books here?

The Black Sabbath one that I uploaded was bought at a record fair few years ago, along with some others. I must say they were good value for anyone who did not have the albums on CD or Vinyl (Eight Albums for about £4 - I think????) . I'm more than happy to have my entry taken down as I only uploaded it to make a point.
