It's just a hunch but I have a feeling we don't need these two different labels. There are 45 CD singles on one and 286 on the other so it would be better if they were merged. Tasmin Archer for example has 2 consecutive singles on 2 different EMI UK labels.
Personally,i can see no harm in listing EMI United Kingdom separately from EMI [UK],it's a sublabel, and although it shares the same label code, if it's indicated on Disc or artwork, then why not use it?.If you look at Tasmin's singles for instance, her earlier stuff is all on "EMI" but CDEMS 275/302/401/433 are all on "EMI United Kingdom",so,if we merged labels, this would not be apparent, just a thought.

Looks like alterations in the international corporate structure of EMI required them to make this definition...
but all the Tasmin Archer CDs after the first that features this change have to be corrected to EMI United Kingdom, if it seems that there should be a separate label (and definition).
Also, looking around a bit,it may well be that many CD's have been entered as just "EMI" instead of "EMI United Kingdom" as perhaps members haven't spotted the "United Kingdom" bit below the standard EMI "on the artwork/Disc,and so,perhaps there may be many more "EMI United Kingdom's" yet to be correctly identified, again, just a thought;)

The Wikipedia says "EMI Music Australia is the Australian subsidiary label of EMI Recordings Ltd. It is Australia's largest independent dance music label as well as one of Australia's largest independent labels overall and has full independence over its operations. Corporate headquarters are located in Sydney, Australia." going by the logic on this page anything produced under this banner (nearly everything after a certain date) will need to have it's own label too. I just enter this stuff under the label that appears on the CD which is what the guidelines request the shuffling behind the scenes over ownership of the labels is not the issue, fortunately though EMI Music Australia uses the EMI logo and hasn't added Australia underneath like the UK version of the same thing. Interesting, no probably not.
