I am a 77 year old senior citizen with a collection of over 1000 78 rpm records. They consist of 10 and 12 inch, almost all genres (mostly 1940's, classical, foreign languages, children's,etc.,), many in old album covers and collector containers. I must dispose of them but in a benign way. I love them too much for them to wind up in the garbage. Real collectors will probably find some treasures in there. Token financial offer welcomed. I am on Long Island, NY and, of course, they must be picked up.
Anyone have any ideas?

If only I lived on Long Island I'd be straight round to pick them up but unfortunately the Atlantic is in the way.
Hopefully one of our American friends can reply to you and take them off your hands or you could try E-Bay or Gumtree.
Well, with some of the thrift stores I have the impression they may take them only to throw them away. At several of our local Goodwill's, I've never seen 78s actually showing up on the shelves. Our library has a Friends of the Library store, they'll take them, and so does the Humane Society thrift store. Better check first before you doom such a large and nice collection to a premature end.
