Thanks for giving me a gif - fit zab!
I think I could generally fit into the "hoarder" category, as I've been snapping a few of these up over the last year or so, when I find them still sealed...
...but I wouldn't quite put it as "hoarder", as that wasn't really my motivation.
I prefer the term: "rescuer", as often, when I buy them at boot-fairs, the people selling have said that they are glad someone took them, as it'd be a shame to THROW AWAY essentially brand new tapes!
Obviously, there's been some very lean years for tape, and they have been very difficult for people to shift in general, with these being a very niche market (that could change if there's a continued resurgence of interest).... so I reckon a great many have ended up in landfill.
But set against this, is the fact that people often bought many more than they needed at any given time - buying multi-packs, and so on, and only using one or two. So at the moment, there is still a great many about, still sealed, in charity shops, and at boot fairs, and can be bought very very cheap (20p or so)...
...but through process of time, this "stock" will diminish, so get in there quick if you want them people!
Meantime, I'll do my bit to ensure there's a few preserved for future use, or until someone starts making them again

I have a couple of sealed mulit-packs, never know if to use or keep for now. A present I am sorting boxes trying to match broken case components for CDs and Tapes to see what fits, rather than restoring correct external milling patterns, closing lugs, etc, which might annoy a bigger pedant than me.
