Unless it's a re-issue by a budget "label" (4front, something like that), I go for the main studio, which is the umbrella for all the other little production companies and associated.
They tend to release it themselves originally, but if it is by a budget label for re-issue, then go for that.
(I may be wrong, and pride myself on the fact that I usually am... I have a standard to maintain! )

Personally, I'd have gone for New Line Cinema, being both the production company, and, as said in the wiki page, distributor.
The other companies may be handling their distribution in that country on their behalf, maybe due to legal restrictions on the foreign company, maybe it just makes sense to contract out this aspect of distribution and manufacture in a smaller market... or one of those might even be New Line Cinema's own subsidiary, set up in that country for this purpose.
But it is confusing (like when we watch a movie at the cinema and it takes half hour to get through all the production company idents before the film starts... you wonder: "who the hell actually made this film?!!!"

I think most of these are logos of investment companies that are partners of some main studio for the production. They provide the main amount of the money for the budget and respectively receive the main part of the profit.
Sometimes these companies are established only for this production and holds percentage of the copyrights for the future.
It's the distributor or publisher of the actual DVD that we're looking for I think, rather than the distributor / producer of the film featured.
In this case, I would say that Sunny seems to be correct. having the largest logo area on the back cover.
the publisher of the actual dvd, yes; which mayn't be the distributor.
and which dvd publisher may be a wholly-owned subsidiary of one of the multinationalmegacorpses (inc. or gmbh or s.a.) that also wholly owns the company that published the film, and which may have a very closely similar name, or a wildly different name:

you'll make some mistakes - we all do, those of us below the ranks of the semi-divine° - and there'll usually be some helpful 45cat/world's denetzen along fairly soon to pick up the error, submit a correction - and maybe even explain how to avoid similar in future!

Actually, that was one of ppint's more intelligible responses.
(I think we keep him the cupboard for too long sometimes... he comes out speaking in tongues)
...I believe he says: "Just give it your best stab, and if anything needs doing to straighten the entry... members of the community will discuss it, and amend it".
((Although he could be ordering a coffee or tea.... you can never be too sure!))
One of my friends uses 45worlds quite a bit and suggested that I join up as I have a lot of 7" Singles, Albums and CDs. He told me that the Forums would be of interest to me. I've seen many good comments made here, but that last one done my head in. I've looked at some of ppint's other comments and seen that he makes a reference to humpback serpents, semi divine beings and multinationalmegacorpses among other silly things. Not sure if this is for me if it's going to be this silly.

Perhaps you should do as I now do, which is to skip any comments made by ppint as they are bound to have some silly content somewhere, along with very poor grammar. I like the reference to humpback serpents though

What is it with ppint that wrankles so many? Sure he/she has his/her own style but once you penetrate that there is a lot of knowledge and a serious love of music in there. He/she may have an odd way of rightening but don't be fooled into thinking there's no substance behind her/his peculiar musings. ppint I'm in your corner would you like me to get out?

I do find some of ppint's comments contain useful information, however, the very poor grammar and unintelligible (for want of a better term) internet code and silly abbreviations make her comments too difficult to read and I now ignore them.
This is perhaps a shame but frankly, I seem to be in the same age group as ppint and cannot afford the time deciphering the gibberish.
My thoughts exactly HelBic. 100% agreed. It has occurred to me that increasingly, comments about actual records or forum topics quickly change to comments about ppint. This could be exactly what she/he wants as she/he seems to crave attention and boy, is she/he getting it. I will follow the same path as others from now on and skip reading any comments made by ppint

Well I think he's a great british eccentric... and wish there were more like him.
...Anyway, before we hijack the thread from it's main purpose, I think there is potential for similar problems to those we've found in CD world, where a very convoluted publisher / issuer set-up exists.
Probably have to be weighed on a case by case basis.

British Eccentric? That's a bit racist isn't it???
I'm with others here - can't read some people's ramblings for the way its written
Racist? A little strong maybe?
Not sure where you are from John but here in Great Britain there is many a person who strive to be know as such. One of favourites is John "Mad Jack" Mytton renowned for turning up at dinner party riding on his pet bear. Also known for trying to cure his hiccups by setting his shirt on fire.
A google search shows it to be a fairly popular phrase.
