Just did entries for these

The Good Things from Holland 2
The Good Things from Holland 3
The Good Things from Holland 4

They are some nifty promo LPs to promote stuff from EMI Bovema, Negram, and Delta in the Netherlands.

First problem I had was what to call the label. Should it be International Division (as I called it), ID, or even EMI International Division? You'll note that on volumes 2 and 3 there is no EMI logo, but there is on volume 4. They are, however a definite product of EMI.

Second item is -- anyone know of a volume 1? Has to be one as there is a volume 2 :heehee: . Ah -- but was there also a volume 5 or 6 etc.

What say all?

Amy

I think you were right with the label.

I haven't been able to trace a 'Volume 1' anywhere, but it's possible that it wouldn't have had a volume number (rather like the 1st in Decca's The World Of Hits series).

At a guess the cat number would be ID 01 ?

"The Good Things From Holland" was an effort by EMI Bovema, started in 1973, to promote Dutch artists internationally. It's mentioned in Cash Box, Sept. 22, 1973, p. 41; the company also took out an ad in Billboard, Sept. 1, 1973, p. 26. Haven't seen vol. 1 yet, though.

It didn't appear to pay off as I don't think any of the artists had hits or further hits (George Baker Selection/ Pussycat/ Focus) in English-speaking markets (UK/ USA for starts) and those such as BZN, Pussycat, and Jack Jersey where already established in non-English speaking countries

The labels say Made in Holland, however the back sleeve mentions EMI International.

I think these records were never meant for the Dutch market although they were printed there .. rather a Dutch release for export, as I can see it.
