The National Military band with chorus on Zonophone A 365, released October 1929, with "In A Monastery Garden" (matrix number Z-040222) on the A side and "Ben Hur" (matrix number Z-040223) on the B side. We might as well have all the details: Recorded 24 July 1929, with Charles W Saxby FRCO on the Binns organ in the Kingsway Hall, Holborn, London. Z-040222/Z-040223 are 'face numbers' not matrices. Those are Zz16709-2 (Monastery) and Zz16710-3 (Ben Hur) Ben Hur was composed by George W. Byng who conducts on both sides. Deleted from catalogue October 1941. |
