Hello all - thanks for having me, I am looking for a little help please - I have stumbled across (long story - but perfectly legal!) a large collection of 78's - too large for meaningful cataloging and anyway, as will become clear, I don't know what I'm looking at! Is there a collector / expert on this forum, probably geographically close to Cheltenham, Gloucestershire who would be interested in looking at the problem that I face. The hoard is probably upwards of 500 records to allow you to gauge what is available - here is a random selection:
Zonophone Serial 1468 There's a little baby in the moon. G H Elliott
Zonophone Serial 1694 More trouble Part 1&2. Tom Foy
Edison Bell Serial 4788 Rolling Around the world. Walter Miller
HMV Serial B3252 McAlistair dances before the King. Mary B Maclean
Rex Serial 9613 Finch Favourites. Horace Finch.
I'm looking for someone to take these and if appropriate give a fair value, they are currently in an old industrial unit that needs to be cleared, so if you're interested, fit and able and don't mind getting a little dirty then it could be an aladin's cave.

I'll be frank, as nobody else has replied. The commercial price offered by dealers is around £100 per thousand. The records you have listed are from common labels, and roughly the years between the two world wars, and anything of value or rarity probably won't be present.
I agree. These sound like once popular and thus still very common records.
Already in our database:
Tom Foy on Zonophone 1694
Mary B MacLean on HMV B 3252 McAlistair dances before the King.
Five similar ones by Horace Finch.
Three of the five you list are missing. That may only be because so few people here collect these artists today that no one has yet bothered to enter them.
Thanks for the replies......here's a few more for interest.
