Many of the family records seemed to have lost original or die-cut sleeves and brown bags used, any idea where I can get replacement bags from as the ladies outfitters and gents taliors that I reckon supplied the suitable size of sleeve have gone out of business ( I suppose they could have been stationery and greeting card shops too .)
I suppose the original sleeves were not meant to be kept, as I saw many Victrolas and such furniture with room for the records but the sleevs woudln't fit in. Iit's mostly luck if we get some originals now.
I buy my new 10" sleeves here with a nice large hole for 20s and 30s labels. These are very strong and will keep your collection steady, but it's small size hole. Those are fine too but it's only available on very large lot. Shipping could be an issue if you live in UK.
And you have the Disc-O-Files at Nauck's, with various sizes available. But once again, if you're in Europe, shipping can be an issue.

I am not after original sleeves as such - as you say they wear away, but I dont like shellac rubbing together. Many retailers supplied their own cardboard sleeves- these would be thicker still, others used a brown kraft paper - and there could not be that many manufacturers of such paper let alone sleeves in the UK in the 1930s and 1950s. Perhaps the best company sleeves for robustness were the 1950s EMI group ones.
