A few years ago on Yahoo Answers I submitted that our favorite music is from around age 14. For me it was, 1960. Everybody was agreeing about the age point. I got 99 answers, the maximum possible there.
1976, 3 or 4 years too late for me... :sideways:

Damn -- you guys are old! Does someone come around and dust you off every so often?

Seriously though -- later half of my 20s here -- but I don't and won't do Spotify or Pandora -- don't own and have never owned an iPod or iPhone -- have a "simple" Sansa mp3 player that I love -- and while I do have several thousand mp3 files -- the vast majority of my stuff is vinyl or shellac -- plus around 1000 CDs,

Probably about 400 titles across all of that are from 1990 to 2010, and almost none from 2010 to 2020

Most of the collection is 1960s and 1970s as far as 45s and LPs go, 1980s as far as CDs go, and 1940s and 1950s as far as 78s.

Maybe I should do a Top Ten 78s thread

Amy
Top ten 78s thread... I'm putting in my vote for Glenn Miller's American Patrol...

My decade, eh? Well, like TopPopper, I was born in 1965, at the height of Beatlemania.. so my mom listened to a lot of the top 40 popular music at that time.. Beatles, Stones, Who, Hendrix, Motown.. and it all had an effect on what I listened to both in my formative years and later on in life. There was also a lot of good music into the '70s.. what they called 'album rock' at the time. But I also acquired a taste for early rock and rockabilly.. and also developed a great appreciation for late '30s and '40s swing jazz.. along with jazz into the later '40s into the '50s, along with blues recordings of some of the greats like Sonny Boy Williamson, just to name one off the top of my head. And that is only part of it! Punk rock of the late '70s through the '80s left big impression, along with grunge rock of the '90s..

I was 14 in 2008; I can't agree with that at all. For me, it formed ~10 years earlier.

Started avidly listening to the radio at four years old. Then as a teenager I chased the songs I loved as child down on 45s or compilation albums. Approaching 60 now but still buy new stuff by current artists and anything else I like going back to 1920's blues and jazz. Favourite decade? Well, like everything else that's subjective it depends on your mood. Favourite centuries- the one just gone and this one.

Apart from my already mentioned bands The Outfield and Collective Soul another band that kept me ticking over throughout the "noughties" was Silver Sun. They kicked off in 1997 and I own pretty much all of their output on CD and vinyl (except the vinyl albums)which are all on here, albums and singles, I even bought all their promos and the Japanese discs which weren't available in the UK. An absolutely fabulous band. I reckon James Broad is a genius, here's the whole first album on youtube
