I have found a box of my mums record collection. All 78 rpm... and from the 50s. I have added them to my collection on here. I’m just wondering how I go about selling these... they are in great condition, all covered in plastic covers, with sleeves... some look like they haven’t even been played. I was offered £50 for the box... I have 54. But when I was adding my collection on here a valuation came up for one as £25.
Please advise me what to do as I would rather they went to collectors.

The valuations reflect the prices near-mint (basically unplayed) condition records achieve at auction. So if you put them on a sales site like Ebay or Discogs (45worlds, in contrast, is NOT a marketplace), you might, with much luck, achieve this price for that one record. To me, who knows UK records only very casually, none of them looks particularly uncommon or desirable, not even the Ricky Nelson ($22 valuation in Near-Mint Condition) that you probably meant. In fact, when you look at the same record on Discogs, recent sold prices for it fluctuate between $3.74 and $12.50.

It’s a sad fact that for every 78 that sells on eBay there are 100 that are unsold.
Last year I was given a box of 100+ 78’s from a local auction as they received no bids and were just going to be dumped into a skip when a vinyl-collecting friend saved them for me.

Yes - there are things that I wouldn’t have been interested in ten years ago but now am, and they aren’t of interest to most collectors. Which is good in the sense I have little competition for them, but also means they’re more likely not to have been listed and I would have missed any that were.

Hi everyone thanks so much for the replies. I found a collector through a friend who has taken them. Was amazed at the condition of them as he said it’s like they had been put away and just forgotten about, didn’t even look like they had been played. Anyway no money for them but he did donate to a dog rescue I volunteer with ... my mum would be pleased with that ... thank you!
