Heroes vs "Heroes"
all vinyl version of the LP say: Heroes see here
not all CD versions are entered the same: see here
and here

I'm sure you'll agree they should all be the same. Personally, I'd get rid of the quotation marks version.

This comment ended up in FORUMS because it involves different formats.
I wanted this to be a general comment for all worlds but there is no option for that.

--------------------
Nope. One LP has the quotations marks as well: here

Inclined to agree that the quotation marks are merely that.

I've changed that Yugoslav LP and all the CD albums which came up in the search.

Having just perused the LP "Heroes" it seems that "Heroes" was the title of the LP as well as the track title. Both front cover and label have the album title as "Heroes" without exception as far as I can see.

It may be the Heroes title was given quotation marks because of the otherwise confusion of having "Heroes David Bowie" run together. However there seems to be a very deliberate decision to use the quotation marks around the title and track. So perhaps we should follow suit?

Yes, I think it should be "Heroes" in all cases.
Here are a couple of extracts from The Complete David Bowie by Nicholas Pegg.
Quote:
Like the album whose name it shares, the title is embraced by quotation marks to express what Bowie called a "dimension of irony"...
and
Quote:
(referring to Tony Visconcti later describing it as a heroic album)
The sense of heroism was qualified, however, by David's insistence on the ironic quotation marks around the album's title, which he admitted was chosen at random

"Really?" "ironic quotation marks" I don't believe it. "Apparently" they're over-used these days but as usual with trends and fashion Bowie was ahead of the game. "Interesting, isn't it"?

Unable to delete comment (above) that somehow entered itself twice. I can't even delete this wiffle waffle that I've written just so that it's different to the comment above. I can edit the comment but can't delete for some reason. "Brilliant" you all know what the quotation marks signify here I'm sure.
