What are valid databases (not 45world-78rpm) to ascertain record and release dates?

I thought Discogs was a good source but I've been told they are often wrong.

I do not have any of a label's paper catalog so I have to rely on Discography collections.

I have a 400-500 collection of 78s and I'm finding some missing entries here on this great website.

Where should I be looking for valid databases?

Also bear in mind that if you're trying to date 78s, we have an excellent dating piece of software that can determine what the likely date is.

If you leave the date empty in the first instance and then let us know, we'll help you fill the dates in.

If you can put images in with your details it will also help us. If you want to you could list the records here with catalogue numbers and we'll give you dates you can add to the records.

Thanks for adding records to our site.

You probably haven't discovered our Useful Links topic on the 78 RPM Forum yet either.

I come to this site first and foremost.

I go to Discography and if I can't find it there, I'll do a global search and scour several of the top hits.

I always post the artist, both song sides and just the image of the A side.

I was told by another moderator, like you, if not sure of the release date, leave it blank so that's what I'm doing.

Thank you!

It would be helpful if you could post images of both sides. There is a lot of info on a label that you may not immediately recognize as such, like composers or matrix numbers, tax codes or stamper numbers, and it would be good if this could be verified or entered with the help of images of both sides. Sometimes you also have two different label styles on the same record, which can help date the record.
