Is anybody out there having any trouble with the aforementioned Windows 10 Update. Everytime it weedles it's way onto my system I get the dreaded Blue Screen Of Death. All I have I managed to do with it so far is a System Restore (4 Times) and delayed the update until 27th June. Is there any way of stopping this thing from forcibly installing itself on my system?. Any help or info greatly appreciated.

Probably not, as Micro$oft have always thought that they know best since the days of DOS, and now even more so with Windoze 10.
It's an absolute scandal. This thing is more like a Virus than an Update. I took other advice and installed a program called Roll Back RX Home and all that managed to do was to crash my computer completely. My old DOS skills came in handy for that as I was able to make a boot DVD on my laptop and get to a DOS prompt on my desktop and once I deleted the program folder and all it's contents I was able to get back up and running. Who would've thought after all these years I would ever have the need to use DOS again, I pity the newbies who probably wouldn't even know what DOS was, but if anybody ever suggests using that Roll Back program avoid it like the plague.

I don't think there is any way to stop Windows updates - I've been trying for years. You can stall them by going into 'Settings', 'Windows Update' and changing the 'active hours' on a daily basis, but you'll have to do it ad nauseam, because as soon as you let it, the system will try and update again.
There is also the option under 'Services' to disable the 'Windows Update' option, but on my laptop, it reverts back to active overnight!
I understand that the updates gradually take up more and more space on your computer, until it can't function properly. Built-in obsolescence from Microsoft!

I did that as well but I haven't checked yet to see if it has reverted back. This situation is just a nightmare. I just wish they had stayed with Windows 7, it was far and away the most stable OS Microsoft ever released

My laptop has my updates permanently disabled but my son is a computer scientist and said it requires the windows update services to be removed but cautions unless you know what your doing you could bugger your computer.

This is how he did it - but he still warns you need to be careful only to do this.
other method: Open the Run Command with Windows Key + R -> type in gpedit.msc -> Computer Config ->Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Update -> Configure Automatic Updates: set to Disabled

In the Run Command box I get the message 'Windows cannot find gpedit.msc'. I've stumbled at the first hurdle.

Got to the end of my tether this morning. Nothing I did could get the thing working so I am now in the process or re-installing Windows 10. I'm kinda hoping with running FDISK and a fresh install of Windows and running the updates it should all work OK even with this latest Virus/Update Microsoft imposed on me. Hopefully this should be the end of it. Thanks for the input guys, to use Tesco's motto, Every Little Helps

I'm guessing this will not solve your problem Quad...
...It'll just start the process from scratch, and it'll try to catch up with all missing updates from the time OS as put on disc until now... get ready for a thousand hours of updates!
I'm still on 8.1, and every now and then, a sticky security roll up tires to install that gets stuck for the better part of a month.
I rely on the fact that it must be a universal problem for all running certain OSes, and that someone eventually makes Microsoft aware, and they fix / patch it.
Probably got the phone ringing off the hook (or digital equivalent) at Microsoft from people giving them an earful about this issue, and appropriate bods are being whipped to rectify it.
Be patient, and stick it out, and they'll probably update their update soon.
Yea, I think I will put Windows 7 back on and have a choice of which one I want to run. As I said previous, Windows 7 was the best and most stable OS Microsoft ever launched but getting drivers for newer peripherals drove me to Windows 10

Fat chance of that in the past 50 years of my being a hardware/software engineer!

You sure? Okay, it was better than Vista
I've this week retired ny XP machine that has been wonderfully stable for the last 15 years but was getting desparately slow. All the professionals I've asked say they like W10, One big plus is the built-in virus protection, which it always updates while you are waiting for it to start - irritating but safe!

And if you had Win7 you'd be able to run all the software you'd previously spent a small fortune on by using Win7 XP mode - and at speed! Win8/10 - no chance of that, Micro$oft built in obsolence!

I have to say I liked it as well until this recent episode where it totally wrecked my computer and it wasn't even a major or important update. Now I am very wary of it.
