First off, I dood a boo-boo! The first song here DOES go at the end of the first CD. I could've SWORE I couldn't get the last few seconds on so, I moved it to the beginning of CD 2!!
My brother & I have always used the tail end of this song to test how good a set of speakers are. If we could play that bit (the loud explosive drum sounds) on a stereo and turn it up REAL loud without hurting the speakers, they were damn good speakers!
Back in `69 or the very early `70's, I bought a Buddah compilation album that had a song on it by US 69, later to appear in this collection, called, "Miss Goodbody". I liked that song the best on that album but never COULD find anything of US 69 in stores anywhere!! Around 1984, I finally found a copy of their only album, "Yesterday's Folks"!! WHAT A FIND!! Not a bad track on the album!! But, not all were incredible psych, 2 or 3 weren't. This one closes side two of the album. A few years later, I found a single by The Mustard Family who, actually, ARE US 69!!! The two songs on the single are from this same album. I just don't know if the single came first, or if the album did.
The next track is from the Wonderwall soundtrack album. I just felt it fit in nicely with the end of "2069".
Although these next two (three, actually) tracks don't fit, musically speaking, I kinda forced them in. I hate doing that and there's at least one more forced section much later in the series but, that one, I'm not exactly thrilled with. I thought about changing it but I think it'd screw up the running order so, I left it as is. This one, I don't mind at all. As 3 of these 4 tracks were simply named, "Om", I put them all together. No other reasoning for this move than that.
Next, another fantastic US 69 track, this time, the first track from the album! As it ends with exotic animal sounds, I decided to follow it with "Sleeping Jiva".
As the next track, another by Kula Shaker, ends with sitar and tamboura, the next track was quite obvious!
I never liked Canned Heat when they were popular, mostly because of the voice of the singer on their two biggest hits. Years later, I learned to love them and cherished them!! In case you're wondering, I considered including, "Parthenogenesis" in the project but, it's just not exactly psych. Parts of it are, but parts are not and I'd consider that a kind of detractor.
Of course, a great follow-up to this CH tune would be, 'Tomorrow Never Knows"! (I just may re-edit these earlier CD's in the project to crossfade them, too!)
"We Are Waiting" is on the 4th Knack album, I believe. If not, then the 3rd. I wanted to eventually use "All In The All In All" but, after a closer listen, didn't think it was psych enough. So, this is the only Knack track in the project....however, I think there's one or two from the other Knack 10 years earlier!
A perfect follow-up to this is, "Sub Rosa Subway"!
And, a perfect follow-up to that is, "It's All Too Much"! However, as far as I know, I'm the only one with this exact copy!! Just before adding this to the project, I'd heard that there was an extra verse that was never added so, I found a recording of the version WITH that verse and edited into the original!! As it was done 20 years ago, I don't recall if I added the end of the Anthology version to this or if I actually added the extra verse TO the Anthology version, but I KNOW I added something to this. It's now just over 8:00.
Next up is side two of, "25 O''Clock". I WANTED to keep the backwards message at the end on this but, at that time, my psych collection was pretty small and I doubt I would've been able to make more than 4 cassettes with what I had. This is STILL only side two of the first cassette! So, as I had nothing good to follow it with, I dropped it. I also didn't want all that dead air between the end of the song and the backwards bit in the locked groove.
Yes, THAT Dickie Goodman!! It's on the flip side of, "Shmonanza" and the entire track is backwards. Buddah would do the same with TONS of their flips in a few years!! I'm not sure but, I'm told this was actually a Morty Croft track played backwards.

In the mid `90's, I was walking by the Pitt Student Union and there was a guy set up in front of the place with several long tables of bootleg cassettes that he was selling. Although he had a number of unreleased Beatles cassettes, I only grabbed two. This next track was on one of them. It's a short bit from the soundtrack of the Magical Mystery Tour t..v. show.

I made a four-disc Enpsychedlica Britannica compilation for friends a few years ago. All British music which could be described as sike.

The first disc was a copy of a themed disc from Mojo followed by some of my faves. The usual subjects were present and correct but I also included things like Ladytron by Roxy. There were some then-bootleg Floyd tracks, like the Vegetable Man/Scream... single and live stuff, plus The Juicer by Sweet (more freakbeat than sike but still) and others, also the extended version of Defecting Grey the Pretties recorded for the BBC. Fun!

I've got those two Floyd tracks and a bunch more that are pretty hard to come by that'll eventually end up in the project.
I have two versions of Defecting Grey. One is a shorter one that I think they actually released on a single, the other is much better and previously unreleased and is nearly 6:00 long! There's also a track from a recent Pretty's single called, "All Light Up". Occasionally, I talk to Twink on FB.

I bumped into Phil May in the gents (!) at the 100 Club before a gig and congratulated him on the excellent SF Sorrow performance (entire album) on the South Bank I'd seen earlier. I have always kicked myself that I didn't ask him if they would ever do DG live!

That would be a difficult feat to manage! I actually saw someone perform "Revolution 9" live. Close, but no cigar! It was a bit telling from the very start. On the record, you can hear George Martin respond to someone talking about a wine by quietly saying, "Cheeky bitch". I've known ever since I bought the album in `69 that that's what he said! On this live performance, this guy stands there and LOUDLY proclaims, "YOU BITCH!!'". As for the rest of it, some of it was right on the money, other parts weren't even close. Nice attempt, though. E for effort.
