Sorry Mike, but I'm getting a bit of fed up with the constant posting of your want lists. You must have amassed quite a few 78s now, probably a lot which are not in the database or have no proper scans. Any chance you do something for us?

Hi again Mike,

I for one am not getting "fed up" with your posts, although perhaps their frequency could be toned down a bit. I'm not sure I quite see the problem though - it's not as if the 78 forum here is particularly active. If you don't decide to post again, do please keep me updated with any new ones added to your list.

Anyhow, with regard to the lower reaches of your current list, I have the following on CD:
Geraldo - Come With Me My Honey
Geraldo - Chewing A Piece Of Straw
Geraldo - Dream
I'll send mp3s of them across to you.

A couple of others are currently for sale on ebay:
Turner Layton - After A While (here)
Geraldo - Ac-cent-tchu-ate The Positive (here)

With regard to other websites that are more sales-oriented, where you might have more luck, have you tried any of the seeming myriad of facebook 78rpm sales groups, e.g:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/3775934779126561/
https://www.facebook.com/groups/78selltrade/
https://www.facebook.com/groups/489729685567680/
https://www.facebook.com/groups/424323117715956/

Most are private, and I don't have a facebook account, so no way of telling if they'd be of use (they may be entirely American-based for all I know), but probably worth looking into if you haven't already.

Peter

I do take Leonard’s point here. There probably isn’t any need to keep posting the lists repeatedly, much as I can understand Mike’s keenness to find the 78s. And yes, surely it isn’t too difficult to add 78s to this site if they aren’t here already?

I have a “wants” list of 78s of course. But I’m not sure it would help me to post it here.

Well I seem to have annoyed a few people by updating my Wants lists.....All I was trying to do was get a few 78's before my demise.....I am an amputee who is housebound and not able to go out looking myself anymore with health issues....I asked was it OK and I paid my subscription, I am sorry if I am making people fed up

Mike, I would suggest you just try not to duplicate your requests, and add items from your collection to this site, even if they don’t have images.

Have you checked all these 78s in the British Library catalogue? They might have some. They would charge for the transfers, but it depends how desperate you are. The British Library Sounds website

Ditto King's College Sound Archive - though I can't see anything online about this now. I do have their catalogues saved to my PC, so could check the catalogue numbers. For example, they have a copy of HMV BD 797. King's have the BBC Sound Archive duplicates.

EMI Archives used to offer transfers of their records, but they aren't active at the moment, as far as I know.

Could you perhaps update the original list then? You could highlight the six or so for which you have no confirmation of their existence.

You could try sending a message to EMI Archive Trust to ask about their 78rpm transfer service. I couldn't get the form to send, but the email address is info@emiarchivetrust.org.

The following are held by King's College Sound Archive in London (based purely on a listing I have of just the catalogue numbers)... although they were quoting me £20 per side transferred last time I asked. I've asked my contact there if they are still doing transfers.

There was an HMV DB series, but it was 12 inch and mostly classical. The BD series is probably the correct one for 10 inch popular material.

Ah, I see. Thanks. So maybe it is correct. As I don’t tend to collect classical or 12” 78s, that may be why I was unfamiliar with that series.
