Naxos has an enormous and constantly growing catalogue of Classical music, the sales are also enormous and releases are re-pressed or re-issued frequently. As a result, the dates shown on the artwork vary, and the Ⓟ dates may differ between the disc and rear cover. The © date is often earlier as in many Classical releases, and does not determine the release date. Record retailers often show a reissue date.
My feeling is that the item should be dated for the first release and pressing, with notes about reissues and re-pressings where required. The same of course applies on CD Albums World
Here are two examples:
8.550765 with a discussion:
8.555009
So please be aware that we may have disagreements about release dates for Naxos CDs. My own feeling is that "same catalogue number = same item".

Naxos has a useful catalogue order site which gives original release dates

That will be extremely helpful Keith, I shall certainly check there or on the English-language pages at naxos.com when entering my next Naxos items. It will be interesting to see if both sites agree on dates.

The example we chose there is typical of the problem I was explaining: our entry 8.550765 shows an original release in 1994, with a re-release in 2001. Naxos.com shows the release date as Apr, 1994, the Swedish site shows 1st March 2003. These agree with the dates shown on the case inlay and the discs, with the original release showing © 1994, while the re-release shows Ⓟ 1994 and © 2001.
We still need notes or comments to provide both release dates.
