There will be a talk about the first UK #1s (1952-53) on Tuesday night at the City of London Phonograph and Gramophone Society meeting at Conway Hall in London. 45worlds members are welcome to attend. For more information, and to add it to your calendar, see here
The presentation you did on the first ever chart, was that recorded at all as I would have liked to have seen that........As to the advertisement of the first number ones, Lia Roza refused to perform How Much is that Doggie.....She only performed it once when it was recorded........

You can also add the other CLPGS talks to your calendar at this link.
Yes it was recorded, you can listen to it here. It’s an audio recording with a PowerPoint presentation. There are also my talks about Bob and Alf Pearson, and the Last Survivors of Shellac, the latter devoted to British performers still alive who appeared on 78s.
And yes, you know all the answers! But I’m hoping some of those attending might not be as knowledgeable as you.
Very nice to actually hear your voice rather than the typed messages, I enjoyed that.....Look forward to the one you do on Number 1's.....Give me a shout !!!!

Thank you, I’ll post a link here when it’s available… obviously better in person, for those of you who can make it!
A new word for me there. I wouldn't expect you to come though, as it is rather far away! The CLPGS Northern Group is based in Samlesbury, Preston, which might not be very close either. Quite a long journey unless you are driving.
I noticed that there is a download button located in the top right corner of the page. If you're quick enough, you can refresh the page and click the download button before it hides away and then listen to the presentation that way.
Was just wondering if there was anything happening about the Turner Layton sides that you mentioned you may be able to obtain.......

It should work now!
Thank you!
Yes I picked them up from a fellow member who attended the meeting. I will endeavour to get them transferred in the next month, and scan the labels for this site.
