I went to see Yes at the Rainbow Theatre in London on 24 November 1973, and it was the first and last time I went to one of their gigs. I was into the band at the time, especially The Yes Album and Fragile (and to a slightly lesser degree Close To The Edge) and a friend had bought Time And A Word, so I was familiar with a lot of their material at this point. I was really looking forward to going to one of their concerts but on the night I found it quite a disappointment. Their musicianship and presentation was superb, as was the sound in the venue but I must admit that hearing all four sides from their imminent Tales From Topographic Oceans LP for the first time being played at this gig, one after the other, was just too much - and not in a good way. I never bought that or the subsequent albums, as Topographic Oceans had soured things for me.

Uncannily, other than being at an earlier show yes-rainbow-theatre-1973 on 20th November, this is exactly my own experience with Yes. I had already bought the Topographic Oceans album and it remains one of only 2 albums I have bought in my lifetime that I have subsequently got rid of.
