OK this is my third or fourth try at this. The Bluebird discography has apparently been added to DAHR and the old links no longer work. Here is the newest link to Bluebird.
[Thanks! Now added to the main entry for the Bluebird label. The link at the 'Sticky Post' has been updated as well. Mod.]

There are many magazines and books related to 78rpm at archive.org, but the structure of the links often doesn't allow them to be individually listed here (they have open and close square brackets within the url links - any suggestions to solve this??).

UK published examples are CLPGS: Hillandale News and Talking Machine Review

See National Recording Preservation Board and Dinosaur Discs for two major collections of magazines and books. Some appear in both collections.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned... :erk:

[Yes, that's a great site. It was already listed under International in the second part of the Sticky Note.]

Just found this on archive.org - The Almost Complete 78rpm Record Dating Guide {link}. The main coverage is USA, but there are also Canadian and British sections. Apologies if its been posted before.

This is great. It appears to be about 99% accurate. I was able to date all the Canadian Columbia 78s with images that didn't have a date except 1.
I will be looking at the Canadian and US Victors next

I was surprised to see that Barr's Dating Guide hadn't been added yet. I've entered it under Books & Magazines, together with Brian Rust, etc.; hope that's okay. I've found Barr's guide useful in the past as well.

I was surprised to see that Barr's Dating Guide II was published before Part nothing. Where did you find the date? The other edition was ©1979 with the author's introduction dated Dec.1980, so it may not even have been published until 1981

Jules,
My entry that you linked to for Barr's Dating Guide II has three copyright dates - 1979, 1980, and 1992. It was published by Nauck's Vintage Records.

The version available for download seems to be from a different publisher (Yesterday Once Again) and has the same copyright dates.

The introduction in 'Dating Guide II' says
"The Almost Complete 78rpm Record Dating Guide first appeared in September, 1979, ..
A revised second edition was offered to collectors by mail,...
"

So it looks like:
Guide:
1st Edition - Sept 1979
2nd Edition - 1980 (or 1981?)
Guide II:
1st Edition 1992 (but at least two publishers)

Must say, that's a surprise. Anyway, I've uploaded the couple of pages on 'Record Era Guide' which may be of use in those frequent questions about dating early 78s

Could be the best opera discography on the internet https://vdocuments.site/download/this-document-is-compiled-by-robert-johannesson-

The above covers A thru M. If you copy and paste the author's name into the site search engine, more documents by him are listed.
[Listed as "Robert Johannesson's Opera Discography". Mod.]
