RCA PPX series and The Downbeats

Back a bit ago I posted a listing for this record: The Downbeats - Perfidia Based on the info I had from the seller, I was lead to believe that it was from Mexico. A second Downbeats 78 has surfaced that I just bought, It is RCA Catalogue # PPX 7, and is Calcutta b/w Jimmy's Girl by Barry Frank. This seller lists it as South Africa. I am now inclined to believe that my original posting should be moved to South Africa from Mexico. I base that on these thoughts: Recordings by The Downbeats, Ray Garrett, and Barry Frank were released on a knock-off cover version label called Twin Hits in Australia. These all say 'A PPX Production'. These artists both simultaneously and later appeared on RCA, which even had an RCA Twin Hits label in Australia in the late 60s. So -- The Downbeats in question are those that get identified both as The Downbeats [New York] and The Downbeats [Twin Hits] at the 45 site. Which brings it back to South Africa. Given that the label copy is in English as opposed to Spanish, and it makes more sense that it would be amongst Commonwealth countries, I think my original listing should be South Africa and not Mexico. So -- now to ID the rest of the RCA PPX series!
