Please can i ask a favour from people who are adding this kind of info? Could you also add something to indicate which discog. the date came from?

I'm struggling with some updates that don't agree with release dates in the discogs I have, and it would be useful to know where your dates come from, so we can use the best sources.

thanks .. wes

Hello Wes.

Can I have a list, and maybe assist you with your problems.

Best

Thanks for your offer, but I don't think its necessary (and many thanks for adding your sources in recent posts).

The discogs I'm using are usually considered the most accurate (Frank Andrews, etc), but some of the updates requested don't agree with the dates I have. If these updates have come from a less reliable or more general source, then I'm happy to replace them with dates from my sources, but if there is something more recent, I need to approve these changes rather than reject them. That's why a source is useful.

best wishes .. wes

I see what you mean.
Maybe it's best to start a discussion on each item, and see what comes up.
I've tried that myself sometimes, but there are very few who have answered.
Good luck anyway.

I sometimes(not very often) interpolate from the other dated items ( I think one person has the full dates for Regal etc ), at least for the year , so that the label sorted by date looks nice on here , any corrections welcome.

Most of my dates come from a Google search as per the guide on this site. I'm quite ok with dates on my entries to be updated if some one has more reliable info. Apologies to Lorangrecords if he felt i'd ignored him. Cheers.

That wasn't personel Redpunk.
I was just speaking in general, because a lot of my trying to recieve answers the item way so to say has failed.
Hopefully it will be better when we learn to check our old entries.
Good luck everyone. I love this sight.
Thank you all mods and admins and adding peaople.

Best

Sorry.
I love the site.
My sight is zero for the moment.
It's midnight in the countryside, so it's dark.

I have full dates (month&year) for Regal, Winner, Columbia UK 10" to 1930, and Zonophone, plus a few other odds. These have been summarised to the nearest year in the label biogs, and I update the months every now and then for these label lists.

But now I've got mod privileges, I'm trying to clear the backlog of approvals and changes for these labels. I suspect that dates that don't agree with mine are from some general 'How to Date 78s' type book.

I think the best thing for me is to update the release dates to my dates, but drop an email to anybody whose change I reject explaining why.

Thanks for your assistance and comments folks! Keep adding the sources  ... wes
