The earliest release I could find on discogs dates from 1968. Philips issued a few cassette singles to promote the then new cassette format (ads for them can be found on the back sleeves of some german Fontana/Philips/Star-Club 7").
I have a Aretha Franklin cassette single, lying around somewhere, which was issued in the 60s/early 70s, so Philips wasn't the only company to try out the cassette single.
Also in existence are DIY cassette singles from the late 70s/early 80s, and not forgetting Bow Wow Wow.

maybe there should be an extra category [or two] for types of cassette? I have just uploaded what could be regarded as a 4 track EP because its 2 different track on the A/B.
Also its a band Demo tape (pre their record deal), as opposed to a promo single by a signed band?
Unsigned Band tapes used to be fairly common maybe there should be a selection in the drop down box for Un Signed Band Demo ?

Thanks for the info. We've changed the dates so that cassettes can be added from 1968 onwards.

I think this information could go in the cassette notes, or as a comment.

My avatar on this site still shows the temporary Queen one I had put up earlier on CD Single so I wouldn't show blank until I found my Zeppelin one. I read on a different thread about them being the same in the "worlds" but I show Zeppelin on CD single and Queen here on Cassette single.
In Add New Cassette - at the bottom in the notes on Notes is this line: Also describe any notable features of the cassette such as colour vinyl, picture sleeve etc.
Hi Folker, re Your Collection Settings - it's there for me on my page.
I think you may have to be IN one of the worlds to see it, rather than on your general homepage
And re the "Latest Updates" on the home page not updating, may I cautiously suggest that the Beatles and Queen images are being held there, as this World gets going...
I added one tape yesterday (I've got 'undreds of em boxed up somewhere) and that didn't appear either. It does still appear on the homepage tho' cos I added a comment/query with it, about scanning card slipcase covers.
Regarding the "Your Collection Settings" option, I was referring to the list on the "Edit Your Profile" page which is accessed via the "Edit Your Profile" link which appears on "My Page" when already in Cassette Single World. This leads to a list of "Main Profile", "Private Messages", etc, exactly as for the equivalent page on 45cat, except that My Collection Settings is not present. In other words, even though I was definitely "in" the cassette world, I was not seeing the collection settings option in the same place as before.
I now see that the option has been moved from its previous location to the world-specific My Page. (I have to say having all 4 "worlds" under the same site is just going to cause endless confusion of this sort, but it's clearly too late for that particular discussion.)

I would consider tapes with properly manufactured printing and record companies etc. to be a different type of thing to the tapes that bands made (make) at home and were sold or given away at gigs etc. So YES, there should be some sort of DIY category?
As regards EPs, I think it would be impossible to use that as a blanket term. Titles can still be added, I think.

Latest updates go on the front page once the image has been approved by a moderator. We're still assigning moderators, so things are a bit slow at the moment.
