TV Series
Notes One of the more unusual film-to-TV adaptations in US TV history, Anna and the King (the show's first episode carried the longer title Anna and the King of Siam) was based upon the famous stage musical The King and I, which was later adapted as the classic musical film of the same title in 1956. Brynner originated the role of the King on stage and reprised it in the film, and this marked his return to the role (predating his revival of the stage version in 1976). A major change from the original source material was that the musical elements were eliminated and the story was reformatted as a sitcom. It was cancelled after 13 episodes . Images
