Yes we took awhile to catch on in those days

If Bewitched debuted in Australia during 1968, then it was already 4 years old before we got to see it. Pretty-much par-for-the-course for Australian TV in those days.

@RecordCollector: The sequel was titled Tabitha and I credited a listing for it a day or so ago.

Erin Murphy's 51st birthday approaches(17th June) Happy birthday in advance, Erin! Though a colour pic of her standing in front of a TV in that IMDB bio website would have to date from 1966 or 1967 as it shows her as a 2- or 3-year-old toddler. Holding the cursor showed it as from 1964, the year of her birth. Glad to see Erin has continued acting, though.

Now there was a sequel shown in the late 1970's and early 80's tabatha all grown up I can't recall the name of the series but I do remember seeing it on Australian regional television

As I mentioned over on "The Flintstones" This was the first TV series in America that actually showed a married couple sleeping in the same bed, with live actors. (Flintstones was first, but that was cartoon)

Thanks for that, 23skidoo! I wasn't sure of the dates but I knew the cast would've been long dead by now, except of course for Erin Murphy. One question though, did Erin Murphy pursue an acting career when she grew up? She was, after all, only a toddler(3-4 years old) in Bewitched.

@Neil Forbes. Sargent died a number of years ago too. Bewitched has arguably one of the worst attrition rates of any 1960s series as I believe most of the adult cast were gone within 25 years of the show ending (Paul Lynde died in 1982, York in 1992, Sargent in 1994, Montgomery in 1995 and Agnes Morehead passed away in 1974 only two years after the show ended). Bernard Fox (Dr Bombay) is still with us and continues to act (he was even in James Cameron's Titanic and the remake of The Mummy), as are of course the Tabitha and Adam actors. If you want to play the curse card, Robert Urich, who co-starred with Lisa Hartman in the Tabitha spin-off, is no longer with us either, though last I heard Hartman was still around so clearly the Tabitha character is immune...

To my recollection, I think none of the cast are still living(except of course Erin Murphy, who would now be in her early or mid- 50s). Paul Lynd had his own sit-com programme around 1970-71 but I think he passed away in the mid 1970s. Dick York had a type of dementia when he finally died. I doubt Dick Sargent would still be alive but if he is, he'd be pushing 90s by now.

I loved this whether B&W or colour or whether with Darren 1 or Darren 2

And yes Elizabeth Montgomery was beautiful and I had a major crush on her.

I really enjoy the early B&W (NOT colorized) episodes which have a 1940 romantic comedy feel to them and Elizabeth Montgomery never looked better!

The series was followed by a spin-off called Tabitha featuring the Stephens' daughter all grown up (though bizarrely the show was only made, and was set, just a few years after Bewitched ended!). Perhaps one of the most bizarre connections was the revelation that the 1999-2008 soap opera Passions was also a spinoff! The character of Tabitha was featured in the show - she was witch whose parents were a witch named Samantha and a mortal named Darrin, her own daughter was named Endora, and Bernard Fox appeared as Dr. Bombay in a few episodes, so do the math! Though I personally have a soft spot for the episode of the original Flintstones in which Samantha and the Dick York version of Darrin guest starred!

Elizabeth Montgomery was the first TV actress I fancied - died too early (cancer)...

This TV series created by Sol Saks, was inspired by the 1942 movie, "I Married a Witch" starring Veronica Lake, as Jennifer "the Witch".
