@biffpampow I actually had no problem with Ryan or her accent and I never understood the issue with that. She was well cast, if perhaps slightly young (only, 22 or 23) but was let down by the fact the series tried too hard to distance itself from the original. And I was put off by interviews I saw where several cast and crew members (not Ryan, who admitted to being too young to remember it) cut down the original series. You don't win over fans of the original by telling them how bad it was. (Evidently forgetting that the original Bionic Woman stands as one of the few sci-fi series to win a major acting Emmy.) And they made the mistake of introducing the female enemy cyborg (Sarah Corvus) too early and making her more dynamic than the lead character. But the show had promise and although they swore up and down that they didn't take anything from Cyborg or The Six Million Dollar Man, that wasn't the case. Not just in giving Jaime a bionic eye and having a Barney Hiller type character in Sarah, but also that the idea of Jaime working for an organization that isn't as kind and gentle as the OSI was comes straight out of Martin Caidin's novels. The show had promise and I think it would have overcome its early failings if the strike hadn't happened.

I did actually watch all of this... it was quickly aborted due to bad ratings and... well... the first couple of episodes showed promise but then they had Jaime acquiring the obligatory boyfriend and it rapidly lost it's way as it got soapier. Casting Michelle Ryan and then expecting her to do the American accent was just stupid and Ryan took a lot of stick for that since the accent inevitably wavered. I like Michelle so was disappointed for her when the show was terminated and we've not seen or heard much of her since then.
