Rachel Skarsten as Dinah Redmond (aka Dinah Lance)
Shemar Moore as Det. Jesse Reese

Notes

Based upon the DC Comics series "Birds of Prey". Batman and Catwoman are featured in the opening credits (Helena is their daughter). Meyer primarily portrays Barbara in her post-The Killing Joke role of Oracle, but also plays her earlier superhero identity Batgirl in a few episodes.

Two versions of the pilot episode were produced; the initial version had a number of differences in production and featured Sherilynn Fenn as Harleen Quinzel. Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn, did not originate in the comics but was in fact created for the 1990s cartoon Batman: The Animated Series.

Rachel Skarsten's character was initially promoted as being the comic character Black Canary (featured in the original Birds of Prey series) but this was changed to her being the character's daughter (with the real Black Canary, played by Lori Laughlin, appearing in a later episode).

The series was cancelled with sufficient notice to allow a finale episode to be produced.

A bit ahead of its time this series. The show was perfectly fine but the superheroes-on-TV trend had not yet begun, and female superheroes were still a hard sell. Plus some fans were upset that too many liberties were taken with the characters (there was huge controversy when the network said Dinah was a radically re-envisioned Black Canary, leading to some changes). If this show were produced today, post-Gotham/Flash/Arrow/Supergirl, it probably would have survived more than a dozen or so episodes.
