Notes

Officially the longest running childrens TV show on British television. A magazine show covering all bases, it is part of TV legend and culture with it's long string of presenters and pets. The ones listed above are the best known earlier ones and to date (2015) there have been 38 presenters in all, all of whom are listed here.

A live show, absolutely nothing exists of it's original incarnation with Leila Williams. There's a handful of editions from 1962-1964 in existence but then from late 1965 something remarkable happens - thanks to Editor Biddy Baxter's demands (and nobody ever dared answer her back!) the shows began being properly archived and preserved albeit in a variety of formats. Apart from one episode from 1967 - the final one with Christopher Trace - it appears almost every episode from 1966 onwards exists at the BBC.

23skidoo 27th Oct 2016		Someone uploaded the original 1958 opening credits to YouTube (presumably someone pointed a movie camera at their TV screen back in the day). I've uploaded a title screen image.



BiggieTembo 14th May 2015		Noakes was clearly the only real element in this show. I recall seeing a where are they now-type programme shown many years later, where a greying-haired Noakes talked about his time as a BP presenter. When asked where Shep was, he broke down, explaining that Shep had recently died. Now I don't like dogs, and even more I detest mediocre BBC children's magazine programmes, but damn this was moving.
