Notes

The longest-running reality format in TV history, this hidden camera pranks series has only been off-air for a few years since first coming to television in 1948. It was preceded by a radio and film series title Candid Microphone, and the first season in 1948 was also titled Candid Microphone; the name Candid Camera was adopted in 1949 (with a transition period where the series was titled Candid Microphone and Candid Camera). For a period in the late 1950s between series, Candid Camera was a segment of Tonight (Jack Paar version) and The Gary Moore Show.

Original host Alan Funt hosted most versions of Candid Camera until his retirement in 1992, though there were occasional versions without him. In the late 1990s, his son Peter became the most frequent host. The most recent iteration of Candid Camera debuted on the TV Land cable network in 2014 hosted by Peter Funt and Mayim Bialik (who appeared concurrent with her role on The Big Bang Theory).

There was a UK version of Candid Camera, from memory late 1950s on, I assume that would need a separate entry.

I was quite stunned to find out they're still making this. Since we usually roll all series of the same title together in one listing, that makes this second only to Meet the Press (which debuted a year earlier) in terms of longevity. I broke the rule about naming here; we usually use the show's original broadcast name, which in this case is Candid Microphone, but the show is so widely known by Candid Camera I went with that one instead. The logo I found online is actually the second half of the short-lived Candid Microphone and Candid Camera transition title but it's the earliest use of Candid Camera I could find.
