At least post Barnabas era, it aired at 4pm Eastern on ABC.

Sorry, that was my fault. I'd seen the late night re-run on Sci-Fi and assumed the original run went out at a similar time. I'll correct it.

There is an error in the Notes: This was not a late-night soap opera. It aired during the day alongside all the other soap operas of the era.

A fascinating fact about the original Dark Shadows: a total of 1,225 episodes were produced as it was a daily soap opera. All but one episode survives, which is unique among older soap operas many of which have lost years, never mind just lost episodes. It is also the only daytime soap to enjoy success in syndicated reruns because of its supernatural format, and is the only soap opera to have its complete run (yes, all 1,225 episodes - the missing one being recreated with still images and audio) issued on DVD. Now you want to talk about binge-watching something! (Incidentally some online sources say 1245 episodes were produced. This is an error because the network played around with the episode numbering (which served as the "titles" for each episode), sometimes skipping numbers. So there were only 1,225 actual episodes made.) The 1,225 episodes I believe makes Dark Shadows the all-time record holder in terms of number of episodes for a series in the SF-Fantasy super-genre (by comparison, in 51 years Doctor Who has aired just over 800 episodes, while the entire Star Trek TV franchise between 1966 and 2005 produced just over 720 episodes.)

Binge viewers take note, however: the key character of Barnabas Collins is not introduced until the series' 210th episode (Star Trek: TNG's entire seven-season run amounted to 176 episodes).
