I thought it was OK but this is one that hasn't aged well. The more recent series Glee was for all intents and purposes a remake of Fame, even down to the cast going on tour and recording albums which is what the cast of the 1980s show did. One of the actors who played a teacher on the show, Albert Hague, was in real life a famous composer best known for doing the music on the original How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I had some interest in this show during its first season or two when Lori Singer was on it (she was a tall blonde fashion-model type who in the show and in real life played cello. I remember they tried to groom her into being the next big TV star but it didn't take, sadly.)

When adding a few cast names I had to go fairly far down the list before I came to a name that actually went on to music stardom; this was one of a few series Janet Jackson appeared on as a teenager when she attempted to launch an acting career.
