TV Series
Notes Extremely long running game show/talk show/news program hybrid. In a variant of I've Got a Secret and What's My Line, panelists (usually journalists but the occasional actor) were tasked with guessing a famous person's connection to a new or vintage headline story. After guessing (or not), the guest was interviewed. Guests ranged from Malcolm X shortly before his assassination to Boris Karloff (whose "secret" was doing search and rescue after the 1912 Regina, Sask. tornado). Although it's status as a game show may be debated, its 38-year run makes it one of the longest-running such programs, with journalist/author Pierre Berton serving as a panelist for its entire run and Fred Davis hosting for all but the earliest months of the show.
