Notes

Remake of the 1967 series.

This version was produced in CG (dubbed "Hypermarionation" as a tribute to the original's "Supermarionation"), with new voice actors but with many characters rendered to be similar to the original. A major difference in this version is that while the original only featured female SPECTRUM characters as the Angels flying team, the remake also features a few female captains (most notably Captain Ochre) and also recast Lt. Green as a woman. (In fairness, one episode featured a male character trying out for the Angels.) The remake series also took a modern approach to the storytelling, providing backstory for the Mysterons, expanding the character of Capt. Black and establishing the existence of good (or, at least non-enemy) Mysterons.

Although Anderson intended for the series to air as a standalone, it was instead broadcast in reedited, serialized form as part of the ITV children's series Ministry of Mayhem. It was not seen in its intended form until DVD release.

Another CG remake of a Gerry Anderson series followed in 2015 with a new version of Thunderbirds, however this was the final series Anderson himself oversaw before his death in 2012.

Very often I'm disappointed by remakes, but this was actually very well done. I missed Barry Gray's music and the visible strings, but they did a great job with the characters, especially breathing new life into Capt. Black and Destiny Angel, and Capt. Ochre I think would have become a major character had the series continued. Surprised this hasn't surfaced in North America yet, either on DVD or cable.
