Billy Connolly took over the lead role from Howard Hessmann for the final season, after which Connolly's character was spun-off into his own series, Billy, in 1992. The series also saw a turnover in its student characters as they graduated.

Monolith 16th Jun 2015		I can just recall watching this cos Connolly was in it and found it embarrassing for all concerned.
23skidoo 16th Jun 2015		Dan Schneider went on to become a TV producer, creating series such as iCarly. I remember when Billy Connolly joined the show. I was a huge fan but at the time Connolly was virtually unknown in the US so a lot of people didn't seem to know what to make of him. They made him shave his beard for the role, which was a mistake, I think. (Though it did allow him to film a great UK TV commercial for beer involving a fake beard.) Still, the network thought enough of Connolly that when Head of the Class was cancelled after one season without Hesseman, they gave Connolly a spin-off series featuring the character he played, though it didn't last very long.
