I've been watching the re-run and discovered that Brian Blessed can whistle through his teeth.

@Magic Marmalade. Unfortunately viewers today want flash. They want big, splashy productions. And when we do get a production that is reminiscent of how they used to do it - such as Wolf Hall - they get crucified. Doctor Who is a great example of doing more with less. The last 3 episodes of the latest season outstrip anything else I've seen aired in 2015 for quality of writing, performance and emotional resonance. And one of those episodes had (with the exception of one cameo line) a cast of one.

It boggles my mind why the BBC can't make good tv for less, and has all these budget problems.

This, like most of the BBC stuff we know and love (And would rather watch than most new output), is more compelling, and all for the production cost of a few painted sets in a studio, a set of great actors, and a cracking script.

We won't cry if there ain't no C.G.I you know!

@cptbeefheart. Agreed. And this is one case where sticking to 4 names does the show a disservice ... especially when the list actually omits several major names like John Hurt and Patrick Stewart. Added them.
