Notes

Preceded by a TV movie pilot broadcast earlier in 1967. During the series, a crossover storyline aired in which Part 1 aired as Ironside and Part 2 aired as part of the series The Bold Ones: The New Doctors. For syndication, the second part was reformatted as an Ironside episode. Two other crime/mystery series launched by way of crossover episodes: Sarge and Amy Prentiss.

Followed by a reunion movie, The Return of Ironside, broadcast in 1993 not long before Burr's death, and a short-lived attempt at a remake starring Blair Underwood that aired during the 2013-2014 season.

In the UK the series was sometimes shown under the variant title A Man Called Ironside.

Quincy Jones' theme music would later be featured in the Quentin Tarantino Kill Bill films.

R.I.P. Quincy Jones who wrote and performed the theme tune.

Someone can correct me, but my understanding is this series was the first major US series to feature a disabled protagonist. Sadly, the series has become the butt of jokes over the years by some, but it was quite groundbreaking in the day and holds up quite well. It also allowed Raymond Burr to break away from being stereotyped as Perry Mason.
