Notes Initially conceived as a motion picture, with Bruce Lee considered for the lead role. Preceded by a TV movie pilot that aired in early 1972. Two additional long-form episodes aired as monthly movies in the fall of 1972 before the weekly hour-long series began in January 1973. Carradine reprised the role of Caine in the 1986 TV movie Kung Fu: The Movie which co-starred Brandon Lee. A sequel starring Lee titled Kung Fu: The Next Generation, aired in 1987. From 1993 to 1997, a sequel series titled Kung Fu: The Legend Continues aired in syndication. Set in the present day, the series starred Carradine as a descendent of the original Caine and had a greater fantasy component than the original series. Images
