23skidoo 20th Apr 2016		Amazingly, this show was produced by Dick Wolf, the producer of Law & Order and was as far from the reality of L&O as it was possible to get. Merkerson came out ahead on the deal as her next role was her 15 or so year-long stint on (guess what) L&O. Butler got a second shot with Dick Wolf the next year in the Modesty Blaise-esque South Beach which lasted about as long as Mann & Machine did. I rather liked this little show and Butler made an appealing gynoid cop in what was, in essence, a remake of My Living Doll from the 1960s. Sadly, rather than comparing it to that rather underrated Julie Newmar series, people preferred to compare it to Holmes & Yoyo which was about another robot cop. There was also a show called Supercop which was the same concept. I had to laugh when the recent series Almost Human came out and people said how it was a brand-new idea ... yet it was basically Mann & Machine redux.
