Groundbreaking and controversial for introducing regular use of strong language and rear male and female nudity to prime time US network TV. Due to this, a number of ABC affiliates initially refused the air the series. ABC was at one point fined some $1.4 million - a record at that time - for airing partial female frontal nudity for a scene in which a young boy accidentally encounters a nude female character in the shower; the fine was ultimately dismissed. Unusually, the series spun off a sitcom titled Public Morals in 1996, which was canceled after only a single episode aired.

23skidoo 18th Jul 2015		Would you believe this series spawned a sitcom spin-off? Complete with laugh track? I'm not making this up. I only just discovered it. The series is called Public Morals and it aired for only one episode (13 were filmed) on 1996. And here I thought Lou Grant was unique... And yes I am preparing a listing!
