The opening credits for this sci-fi sitcom used special effects footage taken from Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.

Burt Reynolds never appeared on screen as Troy, the alien father, instead only being heard over a communicator, though Troy does physically appear on screen in the opening credits and occasionally in the series, played by others.

23skidoo ● 17th Aug 2015		According to some of the writes ups about this show Reynolds was uncredited in later seasons, possibly because he was starring in another series, B.L. Stryker, at the time.
