TV Series
Notes Mexican equivalent of American Bandstand, featuring primarily Mexican and Latin American performers, sponsored by the Orfeon record label. In the mid-1960s the series was retitled Discotheque Orfeon a Go-Go and took on a more rock-and-roll focus. Aside from the regional artists, the show also featured international acts associated with Orfeon such as Bill Haley and His Comets and Big Joe Turner (a 1966 recording of "Corrine Corrina" by Turner backed by the Comets was used as the show's theme music around 1966). IMDb gives 1964 as the start year, however the Spanish Wikipedia gives a start year of 1961. Images
