The on-screen title is Schitt$ Creek with no apostrophe and a dollar sign, but the official title is Schitt's Creek.

The concept of the series is the inverse of the Beverly Hillbillies: a rich family lose their money and up living in a small town. The show title is meant to be pronounced the same as the English-language obscenity meaning feces and refers to the town the Rose family moves to.

Eugene Levy's real-life son plays his son in the series.
