Notes

Not to be confused with the 1950s sci-fi series of the same name (hence the US title of the series was Planet Patrol), this UK series used a form of animated marionettes similar to that used in Gerry Anderson's Supermarionation (creator/producer Roberta Leigh had worked with Anderson on Torchy the Battery Boy). It's electronically produced theme predated Doctor Who's theme (often described as the first such piece of music) by about six months. Some online sources give a start year of 1962.

HelBic 30th Jan 2017		I loved this show as a kid - I preferred FFireball but used to take a gyroscope into school as it looked a lot like the space ships in this series. Puppets weren't quite as well developed as Gerry Anderson's but it was a brave move trying to steal his thunder.

23skidoo 4th Jun 2015		Cool and eerie. This show would have freaked me out as a kid. It's definitely the best Supermarionation series that Gerry Anderson never did! It would have been done around the time Fireball XL5 came out. I know there's debate over which show was better. You can't get away from the cartoony aspects of using marionettes, but there's something about this show that I think gives it a very different feel from Fireball ... more sinister.
