The pilot episode was widely circulated online - officially and unofficially - in the spring of 2015.

The show's supporting cast includes Helen Slater, who played Supergirl in the 1984 film, and Dean Cain, who played Superman in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.

Although noted in media reviews as being the first American prime-time series to feature a female superhero as a lead character since Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman of the late 1970s, this isn't totally correct as the short-lived 2002-2003 series Birds of Prey - also based on DC Comics characters - also featured female superhero lead characters, though Supergirl is the first solo-character series since Wonder Woman.

Season 1 aired on CBS. The series then moved to The CW beginning with Season 2

23skidoo 27th Oct 2015		(Not a review, just general comment). I thought the first episode was rather sweet. It won't appeal to those preferring the X-rated superhero shenanigans reportedly in store with the Netflix Jessica Jones series but I think the world needs a superhero show that's fun and a bit of a throwback to the Lynda Carter days. Make or break will be the show's second episode: it seems everyone in the world saw (and perhaps overdosed a little) on the pilot because it was kicked around so much. Episode 2 is going to show us if the show has legs. Without spoilers for those who haven't seen it there is line of dialogue in the first episode that I think confirms the show doesn't sit in the Man of Steel movie continuity.
