Based on the US show. General knowledge quiz where constants choice there subjects. Contestants had the chance to win £6,400 in 1990 and in 1956 contestants had the chance to win 64,000 shillings. The show started out as The 64,000 Question. There was a spin off in 1957 called The 64,000 Challenge hosted by Robin Bailey. There was 6 series with 133 episodes.

harley 30th Aug 2015		It was in pounds they won and only used the $64.000 in the title of the show. I think it was only used in expression taken from the US CBS quiz show Take It Or Leave It and some UK residents still use the expression now thats the $64,000 question.
