@TopPopper: Still two in this context because McCartney and Starr hold the rights to the Beatles name, etc. and are responsible allegedly for preventing things like the DVD release of Let it Be, etc. Best was a Beatle but he has no control over the Beatles name and story beyond anything related to his time with the group. Backbeat covered most of his time already, but he wouldn't have any say for a film that covered Sgt Pepper, Abbey Road and the breakup, for example. Or for that matter anything related to the Quarrymen.

Three. Pete Best was a fully-fledged Beatle.

@zababdak I'm actually waiting for them to do a proper miniseries on their lives. We've seen Backbeat about the early days and they did a movie about John and Yoko for TV a few years back, but I think they could do a TV series about their full career. My guess is though we won't see that happen until the last two Beatles are gone.

@zabadak. I don't see a problem with that. There are plenty of books, etc telling other people's sides. This was an autobiography in TV miniseries form. You don't normally get other POVs in autobiographies.

I liked it but it was only from the band's POV IIRC... :erk:

This is the documentary to watch who better than tell the Beatles themselves

I've only seen bits and pieces of the documentary itself but I've listened to the 3 CD sets and they're terrific, real treasures. Even though not everyone cared for Free as a Bird and Real Love, I think the fact they were able to reunite the three survivors and link them to John one last time is the important thing and ultimately the main legacy of this show.
