The show was huge when it first aired, and it continues to be a cult favorite today, helped no doubt by claims that there was some hanky panky going on between some of the cast members as alleged in some of their autobiographies.

RC's comment: "A glass a water for Mr. Forbes"

Forget the bloody water, I'll have half-a-nip of brandy & cola, thanks(hic!) Ha-ha.

Oh dear!(groan)! Who rattled this lot's cage? This was yet another gap-filler when TV stations were stuck for something to fill a late-afternoon timeslot.

This series was followed by several revival attempts: The Brady Bunch Variety Hour, which is rather notorious for trying to merge the sitcom into a variety show format; The Brady Girls Get Married, a TV movie from the early 1980s that led to a short-lived sitcom The Brady Brides; the late 80s TV movie A Very Brady Christmas which took a more serious approach to the characters; and finally The Bradys, a new series featuring most of the original cast but this time formatted as a "dramedy" rather than as a sitcom. This was all before the movie remake. There was also an animated spin-off The Brady Kids.

This TV series from creator, Sherwood Schwartz, was actually inspired by the 1968 movie, "Yours, Mine And Ours", starring Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda (the merging of the North and Beardsley families).
