This early western TV series followed a long-running series of movies featuring the western hero who was originally conceived by creator O. Henry as a villain. The series is known for two firsts: it was the first TV series to be produced in color, and it was the first ongoing series to feature an Hispanic lead character -- although Duncan Renaldo himself was actually born in Romania. Far from being a "kid", Renaldo turned 50 midway through the show's run while Carrillo turned 70 in 1951.

23skidoo 29th May 2015		I have to admit I hated this show as a kid. Not that I was bothered at all by the stilted accents, very VERY low production values, and all that. But because where I lived as a kid for years they would show The Flintstones every weekday at noon. I'd run home from school so I could watch the Flintstones over lunch. Then one year they decided the Flintstones had had its day so they decided to replace it with Cisco Kid. This was in the late 1970s when westerns were well past their prime. I couldn't stand it (they also played B&W Hopalong Cassidy serials too). My parents later told me that the school systems complained to the local station that only The Flintstones would make the kids sit down and be quiet in the lunch rooms, so before long the Flintstones were back on at noon!
