TV Series
Notes A spinoff of The Daily Show, this was a satirical talk show featuring Colbert playing a heavily fictionalized version of himself as a parody of right-wing political pundits. Although a comedy series, Colbert, as Jon Stewart did on The Daily Show, conducted legitimate interviews and made political commentary. The series ended when Colbert was chosen to replace David Letterman as the host of Late Show. Colbert technically retired the character, though he later reprised it on occasion on Late Show. An idiosyncrasy of the show is that, when the show title is spoken aloud, since the T in Colbert is silent ("coal-bear"), so too is the T in Report ("re-pore").
